Me and my fam.

I miss this crowd all the time.

They are  very good at poking fun at me, dressing well, watching films, buying Christmas presents, making me laugh, putting up with our parents stories, letting me stay in their homes.

Sunday night date night.

My good friend JS is a huge believer in moving date night to a Sunday, he says that it takes away the fear. You know the fear (although my fear about shouty year 10s and an unachievable list of things to do before then end of term seems trite compared to others' fear). Despite that self- loathing Sunday as it has become known in our household is never enjoyable so I am mixing it up a little and going on date night. Call me crazy.

This is another blog entry about my labrador.

He is very, very good at looking cute when there is food on the go.
Doesn't girls geek look great too?

It is hotter than the sun!

London has hit the high twenties and I cannot handle it. I live in the "bat cave" which means that my bedroom is a loft conversion. Thus, I am at the top of the house and we all know heat rises... On top of that, I have skylights which means there is nae air flow in my room.

I'm planning to make these lollies to cool off.

What I read.

This book made me cry on the bus. In a good way.

We loved the Isle of Wight.

Before the birthday dinner, nearly all the team.

All the team post dinner.

Team on the Isle of Wight.

Reason #4 why I love my bf.

She introduced me to Friday Night Lights
And for that I am eternally grateful. The drama, the hair, the camera work and the football. Love.

What to wear... to the beach?

This weekend the Mile End Men, my flatmates and I will be sojourning on the Isle of Wight. I cannot wait. We will be playing rounders on the beach, toasting marshmallows and singing along to Jonny's guitar. I am in the market for a new bikini. I have narrowed it down to these two.

All bikinis by seafolly and images found on asos.

Reason #3 why I love my bf.

Every time we play the lottery she is absolutely convinced that we have won.
This email demonstrates this.

Dear my loves,
Unfortunately we are not multi millionaires.  Although I did have a brief seconds thought while waiting for the page to load thinking about how I would tell you/what I would do if we had one.  I decided on
OPTION 1
    -  Leave at 3.30pm.
    -  Go straight home in the car.
    -  Stop in at _______.  (Valet parking)
    -  Go straight to a personal shopper and get us all a new posh outfit
    -  Buy us some very expensive champers and some other fun accessories for the house
    -  Go home, don't buy a parking ticket unless it is convenient (i.e. unless I had change and there was a space beside the machine) cause lets face it, a parking ticket is a drop in our very wide million pound ocean.
    -  Decorate the lounge only.  Keep you both out of their until you are both home.
    -  Take you in their together and ANNOUNCE the news (imagine; outfits laid out, champagne in ice buckets, big candles, a sky box (for sports and election tonight), possibly a butler)
    -   Change into outfits
    -  Go in private hire car to exclusive hotel for cocktails followed by dinner wherever we can get a nice table.
Or, ditch the shops, go mental the minute you get in, order in food and not worry about the bill/go to Wahaca or somewhere else nearby.  Ditch the masters and GO BIG Lindsey style at the weekend?!!!
BIG LOVE
xx

If you had won the lottery what would you do?

I keep a scrapbook.

Does that make me a loser?

This is a blog entry about my labrador.

This photo cracks me up. I like to think that Cobby is laughing hysterically at a joke I've made. He probably is.

I'm not sure how we have lived for so long without this.

I love the colour grey and I love this British map.

I love London.

I had a real, 'I Love London' moment this weekend when I was flitting around Brick Lane on Friday night with some teaching buddies. Good food, great company, drinking in a cobbled mews and the canal. Good times.

I Love London card available here.

Two for tea.

On Saturday afternoon to celebrate both our birthdays my girl flatmate and I were treated to a massage and champagne afternoon tea for two! It was delightful.
Me and my bf in our tea dresses.

We are ready.

World cup excitement has reached fever pitch in my residence. The flat are collecting world cup stickers and our wall chart is now on display. My girl flatmate and I have decided, after much deliberation, to support England. And whilst I love to play the proud Scotswoman card often, this joke made me chuckle.
Found here.

Brazil have been drawn against Scotland in the World Cup, and Ronaldo tells his team mates that he's going to play them on his own, single-handed.

So they all sod off down the pub, have a few drinks, play some pool, and keep up with the score on Teletext.

They see 'Ronaldo' go 1-0 up after 15 minutes and can't believe it.

Then, in the last seconds of injury time, they see Scotland equalise.

Still more than impressed that one man held a whole team to a draw, they go back to the ground to congratulate Ronaldo, who they find sitting in the dressing room, head-in-hands, looking utterly distraught.

Roberto Carlos asks him 'why are you so upset?'

and Ronaldo replies 'I can't believe I let you all down like this'

Carlos says 'what do you mean? you played an entire team on your own and got a draw. that's incredible!'

and Ronaldo says to him 'no - you don't understand. I got sent off after half an hour'

What I read.

I have just devoured the second Levitt and Dubner outing, Superfreakonomics. Such a fun book. And as much as I liked the book I also laughed out loud at the Guardian's digested read of the book found here.

Thursday night date night.

Taquitos at Wahaca. Yummers.

Then...
Live music at the Goldhawk. Good.

Reason #2 why I love my bf.

Me and my bf. Sofia, Bulgaria.

She rocks freckles. Fact.

Go to work on an egg.

I work in a challenging urban school that is not that near to my lovely flat. As such, breakfast is not a large part of my day because I am usually rushing out the door at 6.50 still applying mascara. Boy flatmate and I used to do the "breakfast waltz" before our morning patterns changed. That consisted of me and him narrowly avoiding each other in our small kitchen plunging coffee, wolfing down cereal and exchanging knowing glances about the long school day that lay ahead. Nowadays, when I have time there is a free breakfast available at school. That consists of half a grapefruit and a slice of wholemeal toast but if I could, I would go to work on an egg
Image produced by Ogilvy, Benson and Mather I believe.

What to wear... on date night?

Date night this week is Thursday and today I am imaginary shopping at Urban Outfitters. For a casual meal and drink what would you wear?

Or, my personal favourite, nautical stripes

Fired Earth on-line

I'm not in the market for a kitchen but if I was then I'd like one that looks like these please.

Hollie Wright

But if I can't have real chickens then I will make do with this little dude. Courtesy of her.

I have a girl crush...

On Alys Fowler.

This flame haired gardener has been gracing the BBC in a new series that follows her attempts to grow an edible garden. These are three of the reasons I like her.

  1. She grows an edible garden! This in itself deserves applause. The flat's attempts to grow anything edible have been fruitless (pun intended).
  2. Her ginger hair rocks in a way that I have never been able to pull off.
  3. She owns chickens. I would love to own chickens.
I particularly like this little ditty about her here.

Sofa so good.

When I was at home I went sofa shopping with my mum. She was in the market for something large and comfortable. But I fell in love with this...

I also think that their website is rather fabulous and that the Deadgood designers are just the type of people that would be fun to have round to the flat for dinner.

Sunday 6 June 2010

I'm not sure how we have lived for so long without these.

Every so often my girl flatmate (who also happens to be my bf, isn't that handy?) and I put a kitchen utensil into the weekly shop and hope that our boy flatmate does not notice. I wonder if we could get away with this?

Saturday 5 June 2010

What I would like to see.

In my humble opinion Julia Roberts can do no wrong. As someone who has seen very few movies I am no authority on the matter but this new film looks to be another corker. Have you read the book? Have you seen this? I think this could require an outing.

What to wear... to a bbq?

Today I am imaginary dress shopping online at ASOS. I have never purchased anything from this store but my bf has and the clothes she bought were lovely and the service was quick and easy. I am very good at putting things in my online basket though. In anticipation of the scorching weather I have picked out three dresses that I would like to wear tonight.

Isn't the last model's hair awesome?! I have fringe jealousy.
Which is your favourite?

All images from ASOS.

What I ate.

Chicken with mustard and tarragon.

Last night I made this for dinner using herbs from my mum's plant pots. We had it with baby new potatoes and Nigel's olive and cucumber salad. All the recipes can be found here. We dined al fresco on the back deck, nice.

Picture from the Guardian website.

What I read.

Please read this book. I wish I could read it for the first time all over again.

Edinburgh International Film Festival

I went to the London launch of the Edinburgh International Film Festival on Wednesday to catch up with girl geek. I am sad that I won't get the chance to go this year but insider goss tells me that this would be right up my street.
Me, girl geek and our favourite labrador.

Home

Me and the brother.

I arrived home last night after taking the train from London. I am looking forward to a weekend of family fun and labrador loving. I will be barbequeing on the back deck and eating home grown herbs. Yummy.

Reason #1 why I love my bf.

Her undetermined belief that every guy I get with will be 'the one'.

Exhibit A. Taken from an email exchange we had this morning.

"Bless. He should just come to __________?? It's the right side of town and not out of your way and you could try to find a nice pub. Imagine if this actually goes anywhere how logistically challenging it will be....! Maybe he will buy us a 3 bed house somewhere pretty so you can live together...?!!!"
